Guest Workshops &

Dr. Matthews presents lectures, lecture-recitals, masterclasses, and career development clinics for developing musicians. Past workshops include "The Entrepreneurial Musician" on the Peabody Institute Career Center Lecture Series, "The Operatic Flute" at the College Music Society National Convention, the Rochester Flute Association Festival, and the Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair, "The Flute Music of Anna Bon" and "Building Relationships Between Composer and Performer" at the Women Composers Festival of Hartford and the Music by Women Festival, "Engaging Your Community Through Music" at the Cuatro Puntos Chamber Music for Peace Workshops, and "El Sistema Teaching: Preparing the Next Generation of Music Educators" at the College Music Society Regional Conference and the National Flute Association convention.


During the summers, Dr. Matthews has been on faculty at El Sistema Colorado's summer festival, The Hartt School Community Division's Masterclasses for the Developing Musician, MusicWorks Chamber Music Festival in Gettysburg, and the Dahlia Flute Duo Summer Masterclass.  She has also presented masterclasses at the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music, Instituto Laredo, The University of Wyoming, Bowling Green State University, and Orquesta Sinfonica de Tarija, among others.
